Brothers Osborne: People Call Themselves “Country” To Find A Place For Their “Sh**ty Pop Music”

We’ve been huge fans of Brothers Osborne for a long time.

We were seeing them live before Whiskey Riff was anything, and since the beginning, they’ve been making making great country music. So when they speak, it really matters.

A while back, they sat down with Rolling Stone, and TJ Osborne said:

“When you play acoustic, you can’t hide behind anything. It’s really the thing that separates the men from the boys. We grew up loving and revering country music. That’s why we wanted to do the Western swing bits. We’re not calling ourselves country music just so we can find a genre to put our shitty pop music in.”

Gotta love a couple guys shooting it straight while also putting out some of the most legit mainstream country music out there.
