Taylor Sheridan might be the busiest man in television with this smorgasbord of shows available on Paramount and/or Paramount+. But for my money, Mayor Of Kingstown is one of his best. And hell, given the fact that Yellowstone kind of fell apart… I might go as far to say that right now, it IS his best. 1883 is over, who knows when 1923 is coming back for its final season, we’ll see what Landman has to hold, but for right now, I’m most excited about this one.
You can see our rankings of the entire Taylor Sheridan catalog here, but I’ll tell you what, if you were to search for other rankings across the internet, Mayor Of Kingstown usually falls somewhere near the bottom of the list. And I don’t know why. Because people can’t relate to it? Perhaps… but it has a good cast, compelling crime-ridden story, tons of drama and action… I dig it.
If you’re not familiar, the show stars Jeremy Renner and follows the McLusky family in Kingstown, Michigan, a city where prison is the only real industry. Acting as the mediators between the street gangs, prisoners, guards, cops and politicians, the McLusky family has battled to keep the peace in Kingstown for decades. But once all hell breaks loose, the h0pe of fixing it seems all but lost.
The official synopsis for Season 3 is:
“A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”
The trailer for Season just dropped today, along with the news of a June 2nd premiere date, and it looks DAMN good.
Of course, Jeremy Renner nearly lost his life in a snow plow accident at the beginning of 2023, so Mayor Of Kingstown Season 3 marks not only a return of the show, but the return of Renner himself.
