The first time Chris tried to perform “Drowning” at the Grand Ole Opry, he broke down into tears. If you’ve suffered a tragic loss like Chris has, and you’re missing them like crazy, it’ll bring you to tears too.

“When I wrote this song with Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge we each thought of someone that we lost way too soon. For me, it was one of my best friends, Adam. Missing you comes in waves and tonight I’m drowning. This one is for you, brother.”

Music is so powerful. It can make you laugh, make you want to drink a beer, pump you up for a big game, or in this case, it can bring you to your knees in a puddle of tears.

So thank you Chris Young… because right now, there are a lot of us that are already on our knees, in a puddle of tears, and this song makes us feel just a little bit better knowing that we’re not alone.
