I’m not exactly sure this movie needs to be remade, but I’m certainly intrigued.

According to People, Jennifer Aniston is set to produce a reimagined version of the classic 1980 comedy 9 to 5, which as well know starred  Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Aniston owns a production company with fellow producer Kristen Hahn, Echo Films, and while not much in the way of further details have been released, People also confirmed that “academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is writing the movie’s script.”

Of course, 9 to 5 became a blockbuster hit when it premiered in 1980, and made $103 million at the box office, only second that year to a little film called Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Dolly also received an Academy Award nomination and four Grammy Award nominations for the film’s title track, winning her the awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Female Vocal Performance.

The tune remains a timeless classic to this day, and one of the great country songs of the 80’s.

Back in 2019, rumors swirled about a possible sequel of the 9 to 5 movie with Dolly, Jane Fonda some of the original cast, though it was eventually scrapped because that’s just Hollywood, I guess.

Clearly, the original is such a classic and one of those movie’s that I don’t really think needs to be “redone,” but if Dolly and some of the others are involved, I think it could be at least decent.

Casting details, a release date, and other details for the Jennifer Aniston remake are still forthcoming, so stay tuned.

Obviously gonna have this on repeat for the rest of the day…
