51 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was Graduating High School

If you’re in high school, or recently graduated, you’re going to want to hear this.

Here are 51 things I wish I knew in high school. Life teaches you many things, these things are some I wish I learned, and knew, sooner…

1. Innocence is beautiful.

2. Call your grandma. You’ll be happy you did.

3. Always let your family know you love them.

4. Don’t spend each day dreading being at school, make the most of it.

5. Work your butt off at practice.

6. It won’t matter later if you dated the hottest guy on the football team.

7. You don’t need a boyfriend.

8. Go to as many things as you can.

9. Life is bigger than high school.

10. Problems that seem big now, really aren’t.

11. Learn from everything.

12. Kill them with kindness.

13. Go out of your way to talk to everyone, you never know what they’re going through.

14. If you see someone sitting alone at lunch, ask them to sit with you.

15. If you have a gut feeling you should do something, do it.

16. Stop the subtweeting.

17. It’s okay to gain a little weight, that’ll happen. It’s called growing up.

18. Don’t waste your time trying to get the approval of others.

19. You’re never going to be able to please everyone.

20. You could be the juiciest peach on the tree and someone is still going to find a way to put you down.

21. Don’t believe stereotypes, get to know the person first.

22. Everyone has a story, don’t judge them before you know it.

23. Be a light in the darkness.

24. Everyone makes mistakes, learn from them.

25. What you do after high school is your decision. The input of others is good but remember it’s ultimately your life.

26. Eat as many meals at home that you can. You’re going to miss those.

27. High school is NOT the best years of your life.

28. Go to Prom and the homecoming dance but know that they are not going to be the best nights of your life.

29. Appreciate all your parents do for you.

30. Never text and drive. Never drink and drive.

31. He probably isn’t the love of your life.

32. STOP comparing yourself to others.

33. Hold on tight to your innocent joy.

34. Write. Write. Write.

35. Learn to humble yourself and apologize.

36. Eat the brownie. And like 10 more for your future self.

37. Listen to your grandpa’s stories. He’s so wise.

38. Appreciate the good high school teachers and make sure they know they are appreciated.

39. Make it a goal to do one random act of kindness a day. Big or small.

40. A thank you note goes a long way.

41. Friends will betray you, that’s part of growing up.

42. Bad times will make the good times that much better.

43. When you’re lost remember who holds your future.

44. Enjoy that fast metabolism.

45. Never let anyone make you feel less than.

46. There is more to life than Friday night.

47. Spend time with your best friends. One day they might not be there anymore.
