Courtney Cole is an up-and-coming name to know in the country music world.
Her spunky personality and infectious songwriting ability has earned her a spot on Miranda Lambert’s Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour and a new single co-written by the country music greats, Shane McAnally & Jimmy Robbins.
Her biggest joy besides creating music and getting to perform is making new friends, as she calls her fans.
Our friend Megan Clemens caught up with Courtney in Nashville. This is what she had to say:
1. What was the last photo you took?
“Probably a selfie (laughs) but actually a quote that says: “My heart wants roots, my mind wants wings, I can’t bear their bickerings.”
2. Describe your new single “Ladylike.”
“Ladylike is basically me in a nutshell. I grew up with two brothers so I never quite got this ladylike thing down”
3. Tell us about the other tracks on the EP.
“Loud” and “Flying” are just about my recent experience with falling in love and dating. I’m not a serious dater, I just like to have fun and meet new people and these are my collective ideas about it.
4. Favorite songs right now?
“Pillow Talk” is my favorite guilty pleasure song right now, I actually didn’t know, until like a week ago, that it was the guy from One Direction. I also love “Drunk On Your Love,” “Peter Pan,” and Meghan Trainor’s “No.” It’s such a sassy song.
5. Who are some of your inspirations?
Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Mariah Carey, the list goes on…. Miranda Lambert. She’s so honest in her songwriting, I just feel so connected to her. Going on tour with her was such a full circle moment.
6. What do you like to do in your free time?
I love doing kickboxing and I love hot yoga, that’s one of my favorite things to do. When I am by myself, I love really long drives and just listening to music, that’s where I get really inspired.
