Garth Brooks Says He Turned Down Trisha Yearwood’s Offer To Take His Last Name: “I’d Be Fine Changing My Name To Yearwood”

A tender offer… declined.

Garth Brooks has been all over the press the past week, from announcing his new bar’s desire to serve Bud Light (and calling opponents of that thought “assholes”), his radio station going live, and talk of FIVE new Chris Gaines albums… Garth has had a lot of press recently.

Here we are ready to add another headline as Garth revealed that he recently declined his wife’s offer to take his last name.

The powerhouse couple recently celebrated seventeen years together, and Trisha Yearwood’s gift to Garth was an offer to go by Trisha Brooks, finally. She even had all the documents squared away, Garth just had to say “yes” and she would’ve signed on the dotted line.

However, according to Garth Brooks at a recent press conference, he passed:

“She was sweet enough for our anniversary last year to have the documents where her official last name was Brooks. Great gift… I declined it.

Jack Yearwood had two daughters… that Yearwood name is Trisha. So I’d be fine changing my name to Yearwood. Tradition doesn’t count here.”

Aside from the move to honor his father-in-law’s last name, he added that she helps him out on the road quite a bit and he wouldn’t want to diminish her own star power:

“What counts is when you have two celebrities, don’t let one swallow the other.

I’m really, really lucky because, the Vegas residency for example, she’s with us a lot. If you’re out there dying, it’s a one man show… all you say is ladies and gentleman, Trisha Yearwood. “

As the two superstars have curated a career and brand heavily identified with their last names, Garth’s reasoning to keep their identities separate makes total sense.

They have made it seventeen years with the whole world, knowing they are happily married with different last names. Why change it now?

Maybe Trisha would re-offer once the Chris Gaines albums are released. Rocker’s wife… Trisha Gaines has a nice ring to it.

Either way, if there is one thing for sure, the gesture shows their commitment to each other seventeen years later.

I think it’s safe to say, “She’s In Love With the Boy.”

Garth Brooks Says He Listens To Trisha Yearwood’s Music To “Set The Mood” In The Bedroom

OF COURSE HE SAID THAT…

If you know anything about Garth Brooks, you knows he’s on of the highest-selling entertainers of all time, he’s a country music superstar, he still routinely sells out football stadiums in a matter of minutes, and he’s married to the great Trisha Yearwood.

You also might know that he’s one of the most emotional dudes on planet Earth.

I mean, I’m 99% sure Trisha keeps a big box of Kleenex in her purse, just ready to go at all times. You never know when something is gonna send G over the edge.

We all saw him tear up during Chris Stapleton’s killer performance of “Shameless,” he recently teared up again talking about the impact of HIS OWN music on fans, he got emotional during an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show when Kelly spoke on her divorce and “The Dance.

And finally, if you saw his recent Christmas special… well… you already know.

Which is why this doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Mr. Yearwood in the Bedroom

Garth and Trisha guest hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, and after celebrating 15 years of marriage recently, they took some questions from the audience about relationship advice.

And one of those question was all about sexy time.

More specifically, what do they like to do in the bedroom to “set the mood”? Well, G gave the most predictable answer you could possibly imagine… listening to Trisha Yearwood music.

Here’s what he said:

“I think, for me, music is the big thing for me to set the mood.

And I don’t know if you listen to country music, but one of the greatest female voices ever on the planet is this gorgeous blonde named Trisha Yearwood. Yeah.

That’ll get you in the mood right there.”

Nothing sexier than a little “Walkaway Joe,” a little “She’s In Love With The Boy,” maybe even a little “XXXs and OOOs” to get the blood flowing, am I right, G?

We all know you love Trisha, we all know you call yourself “Mr. Yearwood,” but c’mon dude… say something normal.

And for Trisha, she said… John Legend.

Ouch…

A Visit From Matthew McConaughey

Alright, alright, alright…

The great Matthew McConaughey stopped by the show as well yesterday.

Of course, he famously starred in Trisha’s “Walkaway Joe” music video back in the day, but they got to talking about everything from family life and politics, to his new book Greenlights, and even how he met his wife Camila in a bar.

And now that he’s about to have a teenager in the house, in addition his 89 year old mother, Garth offered up a fair warning about everything he’ll be walking into.

Dolly Parton Makes Garth Brooks Blush During ACM Awards

Dolly Parton out here making Garth Brooks blush…

The country icons co-hosted the ACM Awards last night, and of course, Dolly brought the jokes and did her best to embarrass Garth with a sex joke or two.

Garth opened the show by listing out some of the greatest country artists the genre has ever known, and of course, it eventually led him to call Dolly to the stage.

She first walked out wheeling around a goat in a wagon saying “I’ve got your GOAT right here,” after Garth introduced her by calling her the GOAT (greatest of all time).

She also told the crowd that it was Garth’s first time hosting an awards show, and that “you never forget your first time…” and complimented Garth by saying:

“He changed the game of country music forever. In a flash, Garth became one of the biggest stars of all time.”

Dolly added that she’d seen Garth telling people she was his “hall pass,” and he told her that she was his wife, Trisha Yearwood’s, as well.

And she hilariously quipped that she knew why he was really going on and on about who the “GOAT” of country music was…

“Hey! I just had a thought, I think I know why you’re doing that GOAT thing! I think that stands for ‘Garth organized a threesome! I think you did.”

To which he responded:

“I thought I couldn’t love you anymore.”

Well played, Garth… well played.

Dolly also closed out the show with the first performance of the lead single from her forthcoming rock and roll album Rockstar with a song called “World On Fire”:
