It’s no secret that Brad Paisley is a one of a kind dude.
A brilliant singer, songwriter and guitar player, Brad is one of the most unique individuals in country music. Part musician, comedian, family man, and music mentor, he has found a way to impact the lives of just about everyone that he has the opportunity reach.
He’s one of my personal heroes. Here’s why:
1. He plays guitar like he invented it.
Brad is my absolute guitar hero. Even in my wildest dreams I couldn’t play like that, but guitar is definitely my biggest hobby. I’ve modeled my guitar setup as close to Brad’s as I could afford and I even own his signature pedal called the Wampler Paisley Drive (guitar nerd stuff). Whether it’s him selling out Wrigley Field or just jamming out until 3:30a.m. at Joe’s Bar, I am constantly mystified by his skill and thoroughly enjoy watching him play. If we ever get the chance to jam, I’d probably faint.
2. Because relationship goals.
I consider myself a bit of a hopeless romantic and seem to appreciate a rock solid couple a little more than the average guy (or girl for that matter). In all seriousness, him and Kimberly are something to look up to. Despite the chaos of being a superstar, Brad and his wife seem to maintain a deep love for each other that few can match in the world of celebrity marriage. Husband and father first, superstar second, Brad is definitely doing it right.
3. His sense of humor.
Brad is as funny as they come in country music, both on and off the stage. At Whiskey Riff, we pride ourselves on being able to not take ourselves too seriously and have fun with our content. Brad is no different. Whether, it’s his funny songs such as ‘Me Neither’ or ‘Don’t Drink The Water,’ or him having fun in a music video or tour prank, Paisley is one hilarious dude.
4. He trolls hate groups.
So I am a Christian man myself, but I’ll be the first to tell you that the Westboro Baptist fanatics have a gross misunderstanding of the person and work of Jesus. Picketing soldiers funerals is about as sick as it gets and I’m ashamed that they call themselves Christians. Let’s call it what it is… a hate group. What is Brad’s response? Jump out there with them and take some selfies. He was able to find a way to taunt them, get his point across and still remain respectful. Class act.
“Westboro Baptist Selfie!! Or west-Burro(ass) selfie. Hopefully they can hear the show out here. We’ll play loud.”
5. Chicago Cubs.
I love the Cubs and Brad does too. Enough said.
6. His friendship with Carrie Underwood.
Carrie is amazing. She recently made headlines when she said that Brad’s amazing family was something that desired for her and husband, Mike Fisher. “I would see them and how great they are and how sweet he is with them. And as soon as I found out I was having a boy, I was watching them like, ‘Aww, I want my kids to be like that,” she explained.
Life is about building valuable friendships and I hope that I can make a mark on the lives of the people that are around me as well. Their friendship and brother-sister chemistry is something to be admired for sure.
7. He’s not afraid to tackle important issues.
Although Brad is known for being the light-hearted funny guy, he also knows when he needs to get serious and lend his voice to an issue. He has musically tackled racism, religion, women’s equality, being country and not being country. In today’s politically correct culture, it seems we sometimes feel like we need to conform to the norm or be quiet and Brad has always been one to speak his mind on issues. His song with LL Cool J, ‘Accidental Racist,’ went head on with issues of racisim and the tension between southern pride. He took his shots in the media for it, but sometimes tough conversations need to be had. Respect.
8. He enjoys helping others.
American Idol judge, current mentor with Blake on The Voice, and working alongside countless charities, Brad makes an effort to give back. I am a big believer in the idea of being blessed in order to bless others and whether it’s coaching or donating, Brad has given his time, effort, and money to build up people around him. I hope I can always do the same.
9. He’s diving into the fashion world.
Brad’s partnership with Boot Barn has garnered him a clothing line called, “Moonshine Spirit by Brad Paisley.” I’m sure Brad Paisley doesn’t consider himself a fashion designer, a neither do we, but Whiskey Riff Shop has been seen all over the country music world. Everyone including Jason Aldean, Chase Rice, Jon Langston, Shawn Booth, Brooke Eden and dozens more have been seen rocking it. Get yours HERE.
