It’s uncanny.
For those of you that might not know, Dillon Carmichael is the nephew of Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery. Which means John Michael Montgomery is his uncle as well, Walker Montgomery is his cousin… music is just the family business in the Montgomery house.
That being said, Carmichael tipped the cap to his uncle Eddie, and the late, great Troy Gentry, with the release of his own “Lucky Man” cover.
Written by David Cory Lee and Dave Turnbull, “Lucky Man” was released in January of 2007 as the second single from the duos Some People Change record. The song went on to be Grammy-nominated for Best Country Performance By A Duo/Group.
And aside from a quick line change, swapping out Carmichael’s Kentucky Wildcats for the Cincinnati Bengals, you might think it was Eddie himself singing this one.
