A perfect Valentine’s Day cover.

Lukas Nelson shared a beautiful rendition of “My Funny Valentine,” which he did while playing a simple piano arrangement as the backing instrument.

Of course, the song is now a jazz standard, which was first popularized in the 1937 Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart coming of age musical, Babes in Arms, first performed by Mitzi Green.

Since 1937, “My Funny Valentine” has been included on over 1,300 albums and performed by over 600 artists, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Kenny Rogers, and obviously, tons more.

Lukas has such an incredible voice, and put his own spin on the classic Valentine’s song that I can’t get enough of:

“Each day is Valentine’s Day. ‘My Funny Valentine’ written by Richard Rogers & Lorenz Hart.”

Lukas’ father, Willie Nelson, also wrote and recorded an all-time great Valentine’s Day song called “Valentine” you need to check out today, too:

The Frank Sinatra version of “My Funny Valentine” is one of my favorites:
