Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was at a Cabana Live nightclub in Florida when a mass shooting broke out, and he was among 10 victims who were injured. News of the shooting started making the rounds Sunday evening, and now video of the scary scene has surfaced.

As was reported by Click2Houston.com, Dell was in Florida visiting his mother. You can see in the video that a scuffle broke out once Christopher Bouie, 16, opened fire. It also appears that Bouie is handcuffed and on his stomach there at the end. Florida Today reported that all 10 victims suffered non-life threatening, mostly lower-extremity injuries.

Prior to this video coming out and some more details from the story, the Texans released a statement indicating that Dell was “in good spirits” and had already been discharged from the hospital.

Just a terrifying situation that could’ve ended up with multiple people dead. Thank goodness for the security guard who got hold of the shooter, and that nobody else got hit in what looked like quite a crowded venue.

Dell was a third-round pick (69th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft, which looks to be a historic group of players in the Texans’ franchise history. Star quarterback CJ Stroud developed a strong rapport with Dell, as the former Houston Cougar brought in 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven TDs in 11 games. Unfortunately, Dell suffered a fractured fibula late in the season. He wasn’t able to play when the Texans won the AFC South title in Week 18, nor was in action for their playoff victory over the Browns.

In the aftermath of this shooting, it appears Dell has avoided any sort of setback in his quest to return to an NFL field. Just about a week ago, he was in full uniform to show off the Texans’ new color rush jerseys.

The 24-year-old playmaker is an X-factor for a Houston team that’ll look to build on the momentum of shocking the football world with their run to the AFC Divisional Round. With incumbent WR1 Nico Collins to complement Dell and the blockbuster trade for Bills star Stefon Diggs, the Texans offense will be fun to watch here soon.

It’s at least somewhat comforting to be able to still look forward to that when it comes to Dell. We could be thinking about him much more tragically if things had gone a little different at the nightclub. Sending good energy to everyone involved for full and speedy recoveries.
