Say it ain’t so.

When it comes to smoking weed, famed rapper Snoop Dogg is the king. The devil’s lettuce and the D-O-double G go together like two peas in a pod. He’s up there on the Mount Rushmore of weed icons, right next to Willie Nelson.

In fact, the 52-year-old is such a weed lover, that he has a personal blunt roller who he pays more than $50,000 a year. He also has his own platform called Merry Jane, which is a media site devoted to informing the recreational and occasional weed smoker.

However, it appears that times are officially changing…

Because Snoop Dogg took to Instagram today to deliver the shocking news that he was giving up smoking weed. And since it’s not April Fool’s Day, and the fact that he hilariously requested privacy, it’s gotta be true, right? He announced it as if he was a college athlete taking to social media to announce that he was entering the transfer portal.

The post simply reads:

“After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time.”

In all seriousness, I hope Snoop is doing okay, and there aren’t any serious health issues he’s dealing with at the moment. Hopefully this is just a personal life decision, or maybe he’s gonna go the Willie Nelson route and just stick to edibles/vaping since his lungs can’t handle the smoke anymore.

Either way, Snoop is one of the most well-respected figures in not only the rap world, but the music industry in general.

In other Snoop news, he also teamed up alongside Chris Stapleton to perform an epic remix of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” for NFL Monday Night Football:
