Happy Monday, y’all.

Today for the Song of the Week, we have a new one from Riley Green called “Mississippi or Me.”

He dropped the longtime fan-favorite this past Friday, which will be included on his forthcoming sophomore studio album Ain’t My Last Rodeo.

It’s one that he’s been known to play at live shows every now and then for several years now, and has also shared little teasers of on Instagram before, and I’ve personally loved this song for a long time, so I’m just tickled pink to finally have the real deal studio cut.

Written by Riley along with Tyler Reeve and Josh Thompson, the subject matter finds Riley wondering if the girl who broke his heart came back because she couldn’t live without him, or because she missed her home in Mississippi and everything else in the Magnolia State.

The production sounds great and falls in line with what we typically hear from the Alabama native, very pretty and straightforward country, and is another solid addition to his catalog.

Of course, like I mentioned, it’s quite a few years old at this point, and reminds me a lot of his early stuff that I first fell in love with, which I think is why I’m probably so partial to it.

And if you’re a fan of Riley and his music, it feels like a long time coming to finally get a second album from him, and I can’t wait to finally see the full tracklist and all the new songs we’ll get to hear when the record drops on October 13th.

Until then, I’ll have this one on repeat…
