Not a bad way to wake up on a Wednesday morning…

Colter Wall dropped a surprise song this morning, the title track to his forthcoming Little Songs album, which finds him reflecting on the fact that life can be pretty damn hard, and while we all have daily struggles and things we have to deal with, there’s always music to fall back on and find reprieve.

A solo write by Colter, I think part of the chorus is sums it up best…

“You Might Not See A Soul For Days
On Them High And Lonesome Plains
You Got To Fill The Big Empty
With Little Songs”

A simple truth, whether you’re a prairie cowboy like Colter or working a 9 to 5, he couldn’t be more right about that.

The Little Songs record features three other previously released songs in “Corralling the Blues,” “For A Long While,” and a cover of Hoyt Axton’s “Evangelina.”

This will also be the first album he’s released since signing a deal between his current, indepdenent label La Honda and major label RCA Records. It will be out everywhere this Friday, July 14th.

I swear, this man has never made a bad song:
