Song of the summer?

When Post Malone first teased a collab with Morgan Wallen, seemingly a cut off some kind of upcoming country-inspired project, fans went bonkers. Morgan Wallen, Post Malone… two of the biggest things in all of music, it was always guaranteed to be a smash hit whether it was good or not.

And as it turns out, this one titled “I Had Some Help,” is pretty damn catchy.

Flash-forward to last night and during Morgan Wallen’s headlining set at Stagecoach, the two finally took the stage together to debut the new song, and it did not disappoint.

Morgan stepped on stage to introduce the song, saying:

“Y’all have been extremely badass, so I want to bring out my friend Post Malone. Now, we’re gonna try something new for y’all.

What a long, good hug from Posty, eh?

Of course, Post Malone performed his own set on Saturday night, one that exclusively featured covers of country songs from ’90s and early 2000s. He also brought out surprise guests like Brad Paisley, Sara Evans and Dwight Yoakam.

Even though he can lay down a knockout cover of Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown,” and will even throw down a little “Whitehouse Road,” I’m more or less expecting Post Malone’s country-inspired project to land pretty comfortably with the pop stylings of mainstream pop country radio… and that’s fine. I’m hearing some steel licks and a bit of a Tom Petty “Learning To Fly” melody in the intro and verse… I dig it.

I’m excited to see where this goes… stay tuned:
