Y’all, Lainey Wilson is the real deal.
The Louisiana-born pioneer of “bell-bottom country” released her debut album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, on Friday. And on Saturday, she performed the title track live for the first time – on the Grand Ole Opry.
If you’re not familiar with Lainey – and you should be – she’s “countrier than a buttermilk smoothie” (in the words of Heath Sanders), and even opened for Morgan Wallen on his first headlining tour back in 2019.
Her current single, “Things a Man Oughta Know,” was originally featured on her 2019 Redneck Hollywood EP, but has gained new attention after being released to country radio and being a standout on her new full-length album.
Lainey performed both “Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin'” and “Things a Man Oughta Know” on this week’s Opry livestream, and if I had to guess, I’d say we’ll be hearing a lot more from Lainey Wilson on both the Opry and country radio.
Because like I said, this girl is the real deal.
