First Merle Haggard, now Willie? Christmas come early this year.

Last week, Blackbird Presents announced that they would finally be releasing the CD/DVD taping of the live tribute concert Sing Me Back Home: The Music Of Merle Haggard, on December 11th, and now, they’ll be releasing a live Willie Nelson tribute record as well.

Recorded live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in January of 2019, Willie Nelson American Outlaw features performances from Willie Nelson, The Avett Brothers, Bobby Bare, Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews, Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, George Strait, Jack Johnson, Jamey Johnson, Jimmy Buffett, Kris Kristofferson, Lee Ann Womack, Lukas Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Margo Price, Micah Nelson, Nathaniel Rateliff, Norah Jones and The Little Willies, Ray Benson, Rodney Crowell, Sheryl Crow, Steve Earle, Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks, and Vince Gill.

Performance highlights include “Willie Got Me Stoned” by Jack Johnson and other Nelson classics such as “Whiskey River  by Chris Stapleton, “Me and Paul” by Eric Church, “You Were Always On My Mind” with Chris Stapleton and Derek Trucks, a group performance of “On The Road Again,” and more.

It also includes the first time Willie Nelson and George Strait ever performed together, singing “Sing One With Willie” and “Good Hearted Woman.”

The the full-length concert will be available in all audio and video formats including a special CD/DVD combo.
