The great Chris Stapleton is gearing up to take the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend, alongside host Ryan Gosling, for what should make for quite the pairing. As much as it pains me to say it, SNL has actually brought in some pretty solid guests recently with the likes of Shane Gillis, Sydney Sweeney and Kacey Musgraves, Adam Driver, Jason Momoa. I mean, show still isn’t very funny, but I have tuned in a few times this year which beats previous years by… a few times.

In all likelihood I might check it out this weekend as well with the aforementioned Ryan and Chris duo. I’m down for anything with Chris Stapleton (duh), but honestly, I’m pretty down for anything Ryan Gosling too. I didn’t see Barbie (also VERY down for anything Margo Robbie), but not because I didn’t want to, well…. yeah, I didn’t want to. Sorry Ryan and Margo. But… I didn’t see Oppenheimer either, so… whatever.

Anyways, this won’t be Chris’ first time on the show, as he made an appearance back in early 2018.

And leading up to that weekend, we all knew that Chris Stapleton was going to take the stage on Saturday Night Live, but none of could’ve predicted that Sturgill Simpson would be up there with him until Chris tweeted that day, “tonight we’ve got some extra Kentucky in NYC.”

And they CRUSHED it.

What a photo…

Performing “Hard Livin'” and “Midnight Train To Memphis,” two cuts from Chris’ 2017 album, From A Room: Volume 2, these two Kentucky boys damn near blew the roof off the place. I mean, does it get better? I don’t think it does…

And speaking of incredible Saturday Night Live performances, you can’t forget Stu’s solo trip to 30 Rockefeller Plaza for a face melting performance of “Call To Arms.”

It is, and will forever be, the baddest performance in SNL history:
