This will easily be the highlight of the CMT Awards.

The show is slated to air this Sunday, April 7th on CBS at 7 PM CST, with performances by Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum ft. Brittney Spencer, Trisha Yearwood (who is receiving the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award), and more.

And this morning, it was announced that Brooks & DunnLainey Wilson, Lukas Nelson, Sammy Hagar and Roger Clemens will be part of a very special tribute for the late Toby Keith, all backed by Toby’s longtime band.

Of course, we sadly lost Toby on February 5th of this year after a two-year battle with stomach cancer. The Big Dog Daddy had recently returned to the stage, performing three sold-out concerts in Las Vegas at the end of 2023 in what turned out to be his final performances.

And while the sting of his loss is still very fresh, I know all of these extremely talented artists will honor him in a beautiful way and I can’t wait too see what they have in store:

The 2024 CMT Awards will bv hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, airing live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. You can watch on CBS or stream the show on Paramount+.

Just last Friday, Toby Keith was featured posthumously in what was his final recording on Hardy’s HIXTAPE Vol. 3: Difftape alongside Luke Combs. Lainey Wilson and Brooks & Dunny were also featured on separate tracks.
