The first-ever CMT Humanitarian Award.

During the 2024 CMT Awards, Trisha Yearwood will be the first recipient of the June Carter Cash-inspired and dedicated Humanitarian Award. The award, inspired by the charitable work that June Carter Cash supported outside of her music career, shows executives saw similar qualities in Yearwood, making her the choice for the first recipient.

“Trisha has a unique ability to rally a community, whether that may be families in need with Habitat for Humanity, or uplifting her fellow artists and entertainers trying to carve a path in the industry.”

Trisha Yearwood has a passion for giving back to others. She started an animal-based rescue called Dottie’s Yard but has also worked with numerous other organizations over the years, including Carter Work Project, National Women Build Week, Stanford Women’s Cancer Center, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, Grammy Foundation MusiCares, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, Starkey Hearing Foundation and Susan B. Komen Foundation.

Along with receiving this important award, she will also be performing a new single, “Put It in a Song.” This performance will be Yearwood’s first award show performance since 2019, making it a night to remember for the “She’s In Love With The Boy” singer.

“I am humbled to be receiving the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at the 2024 CMT Awards. I will also be performing something new that I co-wrote with Erin Enderlin and Jim “Moose” Brown! It’s called “Put it in a Song.” I can’t wait for April 7th!”

The CMT Awards will air on April 7th on CBS at 7 PM CST.

While this is an honorable award to be given, we can’t help but slide in a Garth joke here. Should we start taking under/over bets on how often the camera pans to him crying during her acceptance or performance?

Aside from the Garth of it all, Trisha is beyond deserving of this award. She has made considerable impacts on the community both off and on stage. Congratulations, Trisha.
