‘Ted Lasso’ Stars Jason Sudeikis & Hannah Waddingham Deliver A Jaw-Dropping Duet Of “Shallow”

Good news for Ted Lasso fans, there’s already a reunion for the show, just not in the way you thought it would go down.

The Apple TV soccer show led by Jason Sudeikis managed to steal the hearts of everyone during 2020, and it just wrapped up its third and final (?) season earlier this year. With how it ended, many fans have been left to wonder if the show will go on.

And the show kind of went on in a recent surprise performance featuring some of Ted Lasso’s biggest stars. Videos of this stirring and comical rendition of the song “Shallow” have been making the rounds online, and for good reason.

It’s hard to do a song that was originally sang by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga justice, though I’d venture to say that Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton) held their own.

The song originally starts with Sudeikis and his former SNL castmate Will Forte up on stage with him (fans of The Last Man On Earth will know this duo can certainly sing a duet). Sudeikis even tells Forte that there’s “no one else he would rather sing this song with” before the music kicks in.

Ted Lasso himself kicks off the opening of the song, leaving the audience and viewers to assume that Forte will come in to cover and carry the weight of portion that belonged to Lady Gaga in the hit movie A Star Is Born.

However, as Sudeikis winds down his pretty impressive part, and just as Forte is supposed to kick off his, Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso co-star Hannah Waddingham walks on and literally pushes Forte to the side as her powerful vocals take center stage.

Turns out she’s the total package, because Waddingham can both act and sing at a high level. As for Will Forte, he’s left to be (hilariously) consoled in the background as his part was stolen, though I think it’s safe to say that Waddingham handled the part of the duet better than he could have.

And of course, the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper version:
