A legendary duo partners again for another phenomenal project.

Vince Gill and long-time friend Paul Franklin, the duo that made an iconic tribute album honoring the Bakersfield, California sound, Bakersfield, put their heads together for another incredible album to celebrate Ray Price and his band, The Cherokee Cowboys.

“10 years after the release of their album ‘Bakersfield,’ Vince Gill and Paul Franklin have joined forces again for their latest project… ‘Sweet Memories: The Music of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys.'”

Gill and Franklin announced this project in early June, and it is finally here.

Upon its announcement, both artists were busting at the seams with excitement from what this album held.

“We had such a great time doing ‘Bakersfield.’ It felt good introducing that music to a new generation.

This time, it was a no-brainer to pick Ray Price. Once we locked in on Ray, we started looking through the sheer volume of his material. We looked for obscure songs, ones even Ray’s fans might not know as well.”

Franklin said.

They wanted to pick tracks that new fans of Ray Price would enjoy along with ones that current fans might not know but also curate the song selection with tracks that still embody the fundamental sound of Price.

“This isn’t a sound-alike record. I never wanted to do that. I don’t think any of these songs sound comparable to the original.

There were some unbelievably gifted musicians who were such a part of those original records. We were drawn to them probably as much as we were drawn to Ray.”

Gill noted when talking about the compositions and band selections for the album.

Sweet Memories: The Music of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys is incredible. It effortlessly captures the nature of who Ray Price was while Franklin and Gill still put their flare on each track, making for an album filled with jukebox honky tonk tunes.

Vince Gills’s vocals combine with Paul Franklin’s incredible steel guitar playing, is a combination that stands the test of time.

Listening to a few, take a step back in time, and enjoy the sounds of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys.
