This is a situation where the 10-minute Zoom call could not have been an email…

It honestly shouldn’t have been a Zoom call either, but that didn’t stop Kevin Costner from allegedly hopping on the digital conferencing software and breaking the news to his three children that he and his wife Christine were getting a divorce after 18 years of marriage.

The split has been pretty ugly, with Costner saying that he was blindsided by the divorce filing, and Christine allegedly not leaving the home after the split and asking for a quarter of a million dollars a month for child support.

Some have said that the Yellowstone star was maybe too active lifestyle with his career led to the split, and that lost time with family could in fact be the culprit.

I hope it isn’t too reckless to say that the fact Costner chose to break the news to his kids virtually, and without Christine, is probably is a tell-tale sign that family communication wasn’t going all that well before the split became official.

This story broke thanks to court documents that were obtained by People, which had statements from the 49-year-old estranged wife Christine Baumgartner.

She stated:

“After a 24-year relationship, from his hotel room in Las Vegas, Kevin told our three children that we were getting divorced over a 10-minute Zoom call without me present.

I am still confused by his motivation to do this via a very short Zoom session, especially since he was planning on being home five days later. He also could have easily come home from Las Vegas to have the conversation in person.”

Christine also voiced in the documents that she had told Costner when they decided to split that it was incredibly important to her that they both tell their children and that the news be delivered in person.

It is uncertain whether or not Costner chose to tell his kids out of spite, but it could be possible considering he was surprised by the initial filing, and was reportedly delivered the news while he was working on a project away from home.
