Is Koe Wetzel Working On His “Full-Blown Country Record”?

Koe Wetzel

By the looks of things, it appears he very well may be.

Koe Wetzel released his third studio album (and first on his new record label), Sellout, in November of last year, but he’s also promised a full-blown country record by the time he turns 30.

He turned 29 just last month, so he officially has under 365 days to make it happen.

I’m fairly confident that he intends to keep the promise he confirmed on the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast last year, too, if for no other reason than he’s doing it for his mama.

Does that mean whatever he’s working on now is that true blue country record? Not necessarily. With Koe, you really never know. It could be anything. All I know is, all signs point to the fact that something’s in the works.

Let’s take a look at some of the evidence, shall we?

A couple weeks ago, he sent out a tweet to celebrate his friend, fellow Texas musician Parker McCollum, on the release of his newest record Gold Chain Cowboy:

And, Koe replied to Parker’s comment about him putting out something new with this:

While that doesn’t neccessarily confirm or deny anything, it certainly would make one think he’s cookin’ up something.

Then, just yesterday, he tweeted this while on a trip to Nashville:

So, he confirms that he is in fact writing something. We just don’t know what yet.

Could it be songs for an album of his own? Potentially. Could he be writing for his country record that’s supposedly coming out by July 14th of 2022? HOPEFULLY.

Then, a few hours later, Ernest (who’s a frequent co-writer of Morgan Wallen) posted a picture with him on that same trip, saying:

“TX / TN … had fun writing with this gentleman.”

Ernest is also a musician in his own right, so maybe they were working on something for a project he has coming up. It’s really hard to say at this point exactly, but I’m excited just by the thought of new music from Koe, whether it’s for his own record or not.

Just for the hell of it, I did the quick math, and Koe still has about 335 days until his 30th birthday. Since that’s a pretty decent amount of time to put an album together, maybe he’ll hit us with a country record AND something else.

Like I said, with Koe being the wildcard that he is, you never really know what he has up his sleeve and that’s what I love about him.

All I really know is that, if this song here is a taste of his country sound, I’m HERE for it and clearly counting down the days:
