Bud Light’s Zero-Carb “Bud Light Next” To Hit Stores Next Week

For all of y’all who’ve been anticipating the drop of the zero-carb beer from Bud Light, “Bud Light Next,” look no further.

According to CNN Business, the beer will hit shelves nationwide on February 7th, nearly a week before the Super Bowl.

Anheuser-Busch, as they do with most of their alcohol sales, is using the Super Bowl as a launch pad to market the new Bud Light Next. Andy Goeler, vice president of marketing for Bud Light, describes the new zero-carb beer as the:

“Next generation of light beer for the next generation of beer drinkers.”

The company also adds that this is the happy medium for fans of hard seltzers, and beer drinkers alike.

Is it beer? Is it seltzer? Nobody knows…

A 12 oz. serving of Bud Light Next is 4% ABV, along with only 80 calories, which is about 30 calories less and the same alcohol content as your basic Bud Light.

Although no official price yet, Bud Light Next will be priced slightly higher than Bud Light.

With beer sales declining for much of the past decade, with the exception of 2020 due to the easy accessibility and cheap price of it, along with a 5.4% dip in beer sales in 2021, companies are looking for new innovative ways to keep up with the new generation of drinkers.

Brandy Rand, chief operating officer of the Americas at IWSR Drinks Market Analysis weighed in on the new marketing schemes beer companies are chasing:

“It makes sense for alcohol companies to consider these trends when developing line extensions to keep core consumers engaged with their brands, and offer more choice for people looking for healthier options.”

That’s cool and all, and hey, drink what you drink…

But I’ll just stick with my $12 dollar 30-rack of Busch Light and have a day.
