This should make the Swifties happy.
Taylor Swift was recently removed from the iconic Legends Corner mural in Nashville, being painted over and replaced by Brad Paisley. And the backlash from Taylor’s fans was…well, swift.
Oh yeah, they were BIG MAD.
But according to the artist, Tim Davis, it was always the intention of the owners to change up the mural every once in a while, taking some artists off and adding others to the painting. And Davis admits he’s heard complaints about Taylor’s place on the mural in the past.
“I have heard many complaints here in Nashville about Taylor being on the wall with country legends since she is currently focused mainly on pop. Some inebriated bar hoppers have spit on her image specifically, feeling betrayed by her venture from country. I guess this is to be expected, but by in large, the people of Nashville love her, as do I.”
Now, Davis is trying to do his part to make sure Taylor Swift stays on a mural in Nashville, even if it’s not the one on Legends Corner. Davis announced his plans to paint a mural of Taylor downtown “that would feature her alone, one side dedicated to her country roots and the other to her success crossing over into pop since I think both are significant.”
Davis has even set up a GoFundMe page, hoping to raise $35,000 to fund the mural. On his page, Davis says that:
“As a music powerhouse in her own right, and having introduced many to the country music genre, she should be featured on a prominent mural in Music City that showcases both her country roots, and her earned status as the queen of pop.”
So will this satisfy the Swifties? (I mean, probably not, because they’re still going to be upset that she was removed from the Legends mural in the first place).
I guess we’ll just have to wait to see if this happens. But if it does, be prepared to wait in line to get your picture with it, because this one may be even more popular than that damn angel wings mural.
