Football is life.
And in small town across America… high school football is life.
But unfortunately, for two Richwood Lumberjack high school football fans, COVID has left locked out of the stands. According to West Virginia Metro News, COVID rules only allow immediate family members of players into the game. And that left former players Ethan Spencer and Bailey Alderman out to dry.
So they got creative.
The two rigged up a deer stand on a tree outside of the stadium to watch their Lumberjacks take on Sherman. Ethan Spencer explained how it all went down:
“We put the tree stand together before we even found the tree. So we had to go find a tree afterwards… We thought it was going to be easy. But the tree we put it in wasn’t the best tree to do it. It was basically the only choice we had. We made it work. It was the best seat in the house. I wish we had done it earlier.”
It was actually my buddies’ idea. He is all the time getting me into stupid stuff like that. I don’t know why I always do it. I got off work one day and he called me and said, ‘Hey man, you want to go buy a tree stand and put it outside the fence and watch the game?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, sure’.”
Spencer said they plan on using the tree stand to watch Richwood’s four remaining home games.
Gotta love it.
