Major League Baseball in Music City?

It’s coming soon if Justin Timberlake has anything to say about it.

The Tennessee native just just invested in Music City Baseball, a group of baseball executives, ex-pros, an others lobbying to bring the Nashville Stars to the league. The group consists of a number of executives, along with a group of baseball, music, and community advisers including Tony La Russa, Dave Stewart, Kix Brooks, Eric Church, Luke Combs, and more, and now you can go ahead and add Justin Timberlake’s name to the list.

“I am thrilled to be involved in the movement to bring Major League Baseball to the great state of Tennessee,” Timberlake said in a statement. “I believe in Music City Baseball’s vision of linking baseball and music in a unique way to unite and entertain people and I am excited to help generate awareness throughout the community as we share our vision for bringing MLB to Music City.”

According to their website, the principle objectives of Music City Baseball are to “establish our brand “Nashville Stars” while honoring the tradition and history of baseball in Nashville and Tennessee. This includes commemoration of the Negro Leagues and the impact that African Americans and other minority players had in the foundation of the game of baseball – we want to connect our history to our future.”

The group recently proposed renderings for a new stadium that would sit along the Cumberland River, just south of Nissan Stadium. The new stadium will include a retractable roof, a rooftop bar, condos, a hotel tower, and possibly even a marina along the river. The goal is to have a team in Nashville by 2024.

And while it’s a long road ahead, you gotta like the team of people they’re putting together to make this dream a reality.
