John Daly Surprises Riley Green Crowd In Iowa With “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” Performance

Riley Green fans got their money’s worth at a recent Iowa concert.

Not only did the sold out crowd get to see the “Worst Way” singer continue along on his 2024 Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour, but they were also treated to a raucous performance of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Did Riley Green sing it? No, he did not. Did Green’s arguably more famous pet dog Carl sing it? Man, that would have been something, but that’s a no as well.

Professional golfing legend John Daly got up on stage and sang it.

This isn’t the first time the long-drive-hitting, cigarette-ripping PGA legend (who apparently now has some LPGA competition) has jumped up on stage to perform “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Judging on some past performances, it appears that the Bob Dylan song (sang in the style of Guns N’ Roses) is Daly’s go-to-track.

The packed Des Moines, Iowa, venue had no idea what they were in store for when the lights illuminated the stage. I’d like to think that most people know who John Daly is, but I’m sure some fans in the crowd were confused to see a long-bearded, middle-aged man gracing the stage. Regardless of if they knew him or not, they were treated to one hell of a performance.

How about that? This is usually where I’d tell a non-musician to “not quit their day job,” but I think Daly could go all-in on a music career. He’s got a big enough brand built up to where he’d be able to draw in crowds, and at the very least, he’d be one hell of an opener. He also released an album featuring Willie Nelson a couple years back.

Daly might just have to add some more songs other than “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” to his tool belt though. But hell, I’d party and throw back a beer listening to a 15-minute long version if Daly is up on stage leading the way…
