Nicholas Jamerson’s OurVinyl Sessions Proves Once Again Why He’s One Of The Best In The Business

Nicholas Jamerson is one of the most underrated artists in country music.

Fortunately, though, there are other organizations out there like OurVinyl that champion the underrated, and use their platform to promote the music that deserves to be heard. OurVinyl, a Nashville-area based entity films and records live performances to be released on streaming services, has collaborated with country music superstars such as Tyler Childers and Charley Crockett before they truly caught their big breaks, and more recently, has worked with up and comers like Logan Halstead, Cole Chaney, JR Carroll, Drayton Farley, and many more.

Their latest session, though, released earlier this week, features Eastern Kentucky artist Nicholas Jamerson, a spectacular songwriter and overall artist who has been a staple in the Appalachian music scene for over a decade now. The four songs included in the OurVinyl Session are some of the greatest out of Jamerson’s deep catalog, particularly his tune “Hindman,” which may very well be one of the greatest country songs of the 21st century thus far.

In a recent post made to their Instagram, OurVinyl was able to sum things up about as well as anyone can.

In the last ten years or so Nicholas Jamerson has put together a catalogue that reaches across broad spectrums in both substance and style. The eastern Kentucky native has endeared himself to fans in the region and beyond as a founding member of the duo, Sundy Best.

He is among an esteemed group of today’s artists who have shaped, redefined, and expanded the notions of Appalachian and Southern music, and reminds people why they love it and enjoy its many splendors.

Jamerson’s songs are known for their attention to the natural world, warm hearted characters, and the plights and triumphs of the modern day hillbilly.”

Wow, that’s good stuff. If you aren’t familiar with Jamerson, then consider this a necessary introduction. The Prestonburg, KY native rose to regional prominence and national relevance as one half of the aforementioned duo Sundy Best alongside Kristofer Lee Bentley.

Proving to be a prolific artist throughout his career in touring and especially songwriting, Jamerson has also released six albums solo and with his band The Morning Jays as well, providing plenty of opportunities to put onto display the songwriting genius that he is.

If you like what you’ve heard thus far, make sure to catch a Nicholas Jamerson show when he comes to a city near you.
