Looking for a beer that will blow you away?
Back Channel Brewing in Spring Park, Minnesota might just have the perfect brew for that. Though their beer blows you away in a more literal sense than it does figuratively.
Just ask this brewery worker, Brendan Babcock, who got served a beer at fire hose speed after the valve of a fermenter he was working on popped off and rocketed a stream of barley, water, hops and yeast right into the worker’s chest.
Surveillance video captured the entire chaotic sequence, which happened last month around 9 a.m. on morning. If that doesn’t wake you up and get you going for the rest of the day, I don’t know what will.
After the guy got blasted back a couple of feet in the air, he somewhat regained his bearings (impressive) and started the recovery process. He frantically grabbed another valve and stuffed it back into the fermenter, then managed to clamp it back down right when another employee came running in to see what happened.
Fortunately, it looks like everyone made it out of the wild situation virtually unscathed, and the brewery ended up capitalizing on the whole thing by making a limited batch of beer and giving it a special name that fit perfectly.
