The Golden Globes are on tonight, and honestly, I had no idea…
Ever since Ricky Gervais’ incredible opening monologue in 2020, it’s just been hard to get excited for these award shows, and with the news about Jeffrey Epstein dropping recently, I just find myself rewatching it over and over to watch these Hollywood bozos squirm in the crowd as he calls them out. It brings me insane amounts of joy, even four years later.
In case you need a refresher:
This year however, Jo Koy is hosting and let’s just say it’s been rather uneventful…
That is, until Jim Gaffigan got on stage to present the award for Best Stand Up Comedian on Television, which ironically, Ricky Gervais won. Not surprisingly, he wasn’t there to accept and even said he wouldn’t win before the show started:
But Jim couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make Epstein’s friends in the crowd squirm a little more. During Gaffigan’s intro to the category, he gave us a glimpse of why he should perhaps be hosting the show:
“I can’t even believe I’m in the entertainment industry. It’s so unlikely. I’m from a small town in Indiana. I’m not a pedophile…
I don’t know if that’s a new category here, but…”
DAMN.
He followed it up with a nice little jab at Netflix:
“Standup comedy is a brutal business, and thanks to Netflix, people get overpaid for it.”
And following that, Twitter (or X, whatever you call it) was begging for Jim to host the rest of the show:
I mean, he even had Taylor Swift cracking up in his 30 seconds. Jo Koy hasn’t been able to do that all night…
