Unless you’re Whitney Houston (RIP) or Chris Stapleton, nothing good can really come from agreeing to sing the National Anthem.

YouTube is filled with videos of terrible performances of the Star Spangled Banner from otherwise great singers, as well as just some all-time terrible performances who should have known better than to even try to perform one of the hardest songs there is to sing.

Well ahead of the Big 12 Championship game between Texas and Oklahoma State today, Warren Zeiders was tapped to sing the anthem…and sure enough, social media was quick to jump all over it.

Some questioned why the game, which is taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, couldn’t have gotten…well, pretty much any other Texas country singer. (Warren Zeiders is from Pennsylvania).

And others even compared it to the performance delivered by Roseanne Barr before a San Diego Padres game back in 1990, which is widely considered to be one of the worst National Anthem performances of all time. (Right up there with Fergie…)

And one quick Wikipedia user was quick to update Zeiders’ entry:

Just brutal.

If you’re curious as to what the anthem sounded like, well here you go. But if you decide to skip it…well, you’re not missing much.
