“Workin’ on our night moves…”

Everyone loves a classic rock hit, and Bob Seger’s “Night Moves” ranks high on the list of all-time beloved tunes. Dolly Parton lined up a star-studded guest list for her new rock ‘n’ roll album Rockstar, but I have to admit I am partial to her reimagination of “Night Moves” because it was Chris Stapleton has the feature on the track, and it is KILLER.

While the song appeared on Monday Night Football’s commercial, hearing the whole track without the commentary is even better.

This was a duo that I never knew I needed in my life.

Before the release of Rockstar, Parton had shared that she’d love to do a whole album with Chris Stapleton, and after hearing this collaboration, I can see why. Their voices pair exceptionally well together.

“I’d love to do a whole album with Chris Stapleton. All those songs that we could kill it with. I love him.”

Parton changes the first few lines to refer to a handsome fella instead of a black-haired beauty, making it fit as Parton takes the lead in the first verse. Stapleton supports her through the first verse with his soulful backup vocals, then steps into the chorus for some incredible harmonies. Parton leads through the second verse as well, but Stapleton is holding listeners’ hands as he is still very visible through the supporting vocals.

When they both start wailing out the chorus, you can’t help but hum along to the classic 1976 track. After hearing this exceptional cover from these two, I think an album is a must.
