‘Twas the night before the CMA Awards, and all through Music City, country music was being sung… especially at the BMI Awards.
This year, the BMI Awards honored two incredible songwriters who have left a significant mark on the industry already, and it’s just the beginning of the illustrious careers these two are bound to have in country music and beyond.
After receiving their honors, the two took to the stage to perform some of the songs they were recognized for during the ceremony. However, the two decided to put a twist on the performance… a little song swap, if you will.
The two covered each other’s tracks, leading to an incredible performance. Wallen was challenged to convey the heartfelt lyrics of Combs’ “Going, Going, Gone.”
Following that, Luke Combs took a stab at one of Morgan Wallen’s tracks, laying down a stellar cover of “Thought You Should Know.”
Talk about a great way to show your support for your fellow country music colleagues. These two are some of the biggest acts in the game right now, and this song swap shows their camaraderie on and off the main stage.
Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen are both nominated for Entertainer of the Year for this year’s CMA Awards, so it will be a tight race to see who takes home the trophy tonight. The whole category is stacked and filled with deserving artists to be named Entertainer of the Year.
