If you recently heard an echoing of shattered hearts falling to the ground, Megan Moroney was to blame.
There’s lots of reasons to love Megan. She’s a great songwriter, has an incredible gritty voice, and in the midst of a huge career wave, having been nominated for both the Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year at tonight’s CMA Awards, but also let’s be honest…
It got me thinking that maybe tonight during the CMA Awards we’d have a big reveal, like when Lainey Wilson brought out Duck Hodges for the first time at the ACM Awardsearlier this year, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be that way.
Megan did an interview with Us Magazine, where she’s asked about who she’d be bringing to accompany her tonight, and her answer will absolutely warm your heart.
“I’m taking my dad as my date. He taught me how to play guitar and he was the one who made me love music as much as I do, so to be able to bring him the first time I’m nominated, I’m just really excited about that.”
Gotta say, it’s not what a lot of people were hoping for but it certainly gives you that warm feeling inside.
Her mystery man will stay a secret for a little bit longer, but it’s awesome that she’s bringing her dad along for the ride tonight.
Throwback to her and her dad performing a little Carly Pearce and Lee Brice together at home… rockin’ a Whiskey Riff shirt, might I add.
