If you recently heard an echoing of shattered hearts falling to the ground, Megan Moroney was to blame.
There’s lots of reasons to love Megan. She’s a great songwriter, has an incredible gritty voice, and in the midst of a huge career wave, having been nominated for both the Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year at tonight’s CMA Awards, but also let’s be honest…
She’s a smokeshow.
Which is why the hearts of rednecks around the country were smashed into bits when she posted a photo of her and a mystery man on Instagram this week. At first, many people thought it was Riley Green, although he later shut down that rumor, and fans have been clambering to try and figure out who it is like crazy.
It got me thinking that maybe tonight during the CMA Awards we’d have a big reveal, like when Lainey Wilson brought out Duck Hodges for the first time at the ACM Awards earlier this year, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be that way.
Megan did an interview with Us Magazine, where she’s asked about who she’d be bringing to accompany her tonight, and her answer will absolutely warm your heart.
“I’m taking my dad as my date. He taught me how to play guitar and he was the one who made me love music as much as I do, so to be able to bring him the first time I’m nominated, I’m just really excited about that.”
Gotta say, it’s not what a lot of people were hoping for but it certainly gives you that warm feeling inside.
Her mystery man will stay a secret for a little bit longer, but it’s awesome that she’s bringing her dad along for the ride tonight.
