Hardy Says There’s A “Big Announcement” Coming With Post Malone CMA Awards Performance Tonight

I think we can pretty much bank on the fact that Post Malone is goin’ country in some official form or fashion.

He’s slated to take the CMA Awards stage alongside Morgan Wallen and Hardy this evening to perform a medley of country classics, and ahead of the show, HARDY dropped a pretty big bomb in terms of what’s to come.

We already know that Posty has been making his rounds throughout Nashville during his time in town for the aforementioned awards show, working with the likes of Luke Combs, Ernest, Morgan & plenty more of Nashville’s most talented writers and producers…

Brad Paisley even looks to be involved somehow:

And in an interview with Audacy’s Grunwald earlier today, Hardy confirmed our suspicions that something more substantial than just a CMA Awards appearance is in the works.

He says that there’s “a plan,” and while he obviously can’t give out very specific details quite yet, Hardy added that it will all make sense soon and they have “a big announcement coming”:

“There is a plan, and I cannot talk about it yet, but it will all make sense after the awards.

I can’t get too much into why we’re doing it, but it’ll all make sense in that moment and after the awards because we have a big announcement coming.”

Hardy also said that the pair got to hang out the other night, and Post Malone is a fan of his and “such a great dude”:

“I got to hang out with him the other night and sure enough, he’s a fan and such a great dude. We really got to break the ice and it really started feeling real.

I was like, ‘Wow, I’m really going to do this with Post Malone.’”

It remains to be seen what exactly all of this means, and we have yet to see (at least on social media, so who knows what’s going on behind the scenes) Post working with what he calls his favorite artists at the moment in Colter Wall, Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson.

While I do like all of the mainstream country artists that are seemingly involved in whatever this is, I think it would be such a shame if Colter, Tyler, Sturgill and artists like that were left out, because Post has spoken so highly of them before (in addition to expressing interest in working with them) and really has great taste in all kinds of country.

If I had to guess, I could definitely see Posty doing some kind of country covers album (because we all know how damn good he is at country covers already) that includes collaborations with all of the artists we’ve seen him working with recently, though I definitely hope it’s more than that and we get some original tunes out of him, too.

The Dallas, Texas native clearly has the country chops needed to do it, and has said before that a huge Shania Twain fan, has shared the stage with Darius Rucker and Blake Shelton before, and actually got his start playing country music at an Italian restaurant in the lone star state.

Post is obviously s global superstar and very talented musician, and he’s one of the few people I think could really pull it off in a genuine way, and I personally cannot wait to find out what he has up his sleeve.

As always, we’ll be live tweeting the event once again, so be sure to tune in for some laughs, head scratches, and (hopefully) a few celebrations as we take in the spectacle that is the Country Music Awards and follow along on X (@whiskeyriff) for all of the fun.

Lainey Wilson is leading the pack with 9 total nominations and Jelly Roll leads all the dudes with 5, while Luke Combs and HARDY have four each. Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will host the show live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

And I’ll leave you with this masterpiece in case you’ve somehow never seen it before (or even if you have), because that needs to change ASAP:
