It’s always a strange situation when one of your friends starts dating your sister. Or even worse, when your sister is dating one of your rivals.
Not to say that Ryan Blaney and William Byron are heated rivals, but they’re both competing on the NASCAR’s biggest stage this weekend when they’ll race alongside Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell for the chance to be crowned Cup Series Champion.
And William Byron is currently dating Ryan Blaney’s sister.
William Byron has won 6 races this year, but Blaney has won two of the last 5 so he’s riding with a ton of momentum. Of course, Blaney edged out Byron at Michigan International Speedway a couple years back, so you can imagine Byron might have a little extra motivation behind this one. Both will be making their NASCAR Cup Series Championship debut.
But speaking of the Byron dating Blaney’s sister situation, Byron addressed it during an interview before the big race. After being asked by the reporter if she’ll be wearing his gear or Blaney’s gear, or who she’ll be cheering for in specific, he responded:
“I’m sure she’ll stay out of the mix. She doesn’t wanna be the spotlight. She’ll be cheering us on.”
Very well handled, Byron. Don’t fall into the media trap…
