She’s leaving country music and her marriage… but not her family.

Maren Morris has been a hot topic of conversation over the last few weeks. It started via the release of her EP The Bridge, which was essentially her letter departing from country music. And while that was quite the industry conversation itself, it brought even more ripples when it was revealed that filed for divorce from her husband, Ryan Hurd.

I think that many people had questions about how their relationship would shift as she was trashing country music, meanwhile her husband is a prominent songwriter in the industry. He spoke out, defending her for always speaking out:

“I’m so sick of watching my wife get the sh*t kicked out of her.”

Then she turned around and slammed him with divorce papers.

While separation of any sort is going to have its messy parts, and Ryan was reportedly blindsided by the whole ordeal, it always becomes more complicated when a child is involved. Morrie cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing, however put those aside to take their son, Hayes, trick-or-treating for Halloweeen last night.

Morris posted an Instagram story of Mom and Dad smiling big, holding their son’s hand as she totes what one can assume is a bag of candy.

Back in 2021, Hurd said that family was the most important:

“Music stuff is not the most important thing anymore. The most important thing is obviously our home life and each other and our kid — and music is just our job sometimes.

It comes third, but it doesn’t mean it’s not important — it just means that the other stuff is always going to be first.

It’s good to see that even through this emotionally charged time, they can come together to be there for their son.
