With Halloween falling on a Tuesday this year, many folks celebrated the holiday this past weekend. Among all the costumes that were blowing up across the Internet, two of the sports variety in particular stood out among the crowd of worthy contenders.

First up we have a couple who went as Randy Johnson and the poor, deceased bird he exploded with one of his trademark, sizzling southpaw pitches during a 2001 spring training game.

Really conflicted on how to feel about this. Undeniably hilarious if you’re being objective. Poor bird was on the business end of a Randy Johnson heater, though. What a way to go out. Most humans want nothing to do with that, never mind an innocent animal a fraction of the average batter’s size. I guess I can’t make the “too soon” claim… At least it was probably an instant, pain-free passing into the afterlife for our dear departed avian.

I could see how people would view this getup as something they didn’t know they needed until they saw it. The Big Unit has been retired from MLB for quite some time and is a complete and utter legend for reasons beyond what he did in an exhibition game. It’s wild that this moment stands as a significant part of Johnson’s legacy.

The 6-foot-10 Hall of Famer was a 10-time All-Star, five-time Cy Young Award winner, 300-game winner and World Series MVP.

Speaking of singular personalities in sports, how about this little kid in the full gear of Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, reenacting his sprint away from the cameraman from this season?

Pretty flawless recreation in my opinion. Having Mike Tirico’s broadcast audio in the background really gave it the full effect. We love ourselves some Mike McDaniel around these parts, so I may be a little biased about how much I hold this kid’s costume in such high esteem. Regardless, you can’t deny how awesome it is.

Get ready, y’all. We’re about to have a lot more Mike McDaniel in our lives when the Dolphins grace the HBO cameras for Hard Knocks In Season coming up here soon. But first, the Fins are traveling to Frankfurt, Germany, for an epic Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. This coming Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET.

Forget all this Halloween stuff. I’m already ready. Beyond ready. But for real, hope you enjoyed the Randy-bird dynamic duo and the latest offering spun off from the one-man content-producing machine that is Mike McDaniel.
