Zach Wilson isn’t on the bench quite yet, but he might be taking a seat soon.

Amid the young quarterback struggling this early in the season, following the devastating injury to Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets are taking action, bringing in veteran QB Trevor Siemian.

Siemian and the Jets are no strangers to each other, as he played for them in 2019 but faced a season-ending injury during the first game after throwing just six passes (not unlike Aaron himself).

According to the New York Post, the NFL team is flying in the 31-year-old today for a meeting and plans to sign him to the practice squad, assuming the meetings so well and he passes his physical.

It shouldn’t take long for Siemian to get back up to speed, as he was at training camp with the Bengals this year but was not brought onto the team.

While the signing of Siemian does not mean an immediate replacement of Zach Wilson, the hope is that he can get fit playing on the practice squad while learning the place, and he is there ready to step up if needed.

Zach Wilson has been frustrating fans and even New York Jets legend, Joe Namath. Broadway Joe said he has seen enough of Zach Wilson and he’d ship him off to another team if he was in charge:

Football fans took to Twitter, highlighting some hilarious memes of the train wreck this might cause among the players. No one likes to feel like their spot on a team is in jeopardy, so maybe this will kick Wilson into gear, leaving it all on the field.

I’m definitely keeping an eye on the Jets to see how this plays out…
