SHAKE AND BAKE!

NASCAR is rolling into Talladega this weekend for the YellaWood 500, the scene of one of the most iconic finishes in the sport’s history.

And of course I mean the time Ricky Bobby raced Jean Girard on foot to the finish line, only to be disqualified for exiting his car and hand the win to his teammate Cal Naughton Jr.

Obviously I’m talking about the movie Talladega Nights starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Sacha Baron Cohen. The movie was a massive box office success, though NASCAR fans tend to have mixed feelings on the way it portrays their sport.

Nevertheless, it’s become a massive cult classic, inspiring memes and quotes that still live on today, 17 years after it was first released back in 2006.

At this point, like it or not, it’s safe to say that NASCAR and Talladega Nights go together like cocaine and waffles.

And this weekend, Stewart Haas Racing is bringing the fictional cars to life, with Ryan Preece and Chase Briscoe to run Talladega Nights recreation cars during the race at Talladega.

Briscoe will be driving the #14 Old Spice car driven in the movie by Cal Naughton Jr., while Preece’s #41 Chevy will be decked out in the iconic WonderBread paint scheme driven by Ricky Bobby himself. (I assume there won’t be a live cougar in the car with him, but man how much fun would that be).

And while unveiling their new rides, Preece and Briscoe even recreated the iconic “Shake and Bake” scene between Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton.

Gotta admit, “Preece and Chase” just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but it’s still pretty awesome that they’re not only running the paint schemes from the movie, but got the actual sponsors on board for the iconic rides.

Let’s see if this helps the team out any after the struggles they’ve had this year.

After all, if you ain’t first you’re last.
