Treaty Oak Revival Covered Turnpike Troubadour’s “7 & 7” And These Guys Just Rock

For awhile now, Texas has been the heart of the country/rock scene that’s been taking over country music as a whole.

Artists like Koe Wetzel, Dylan Wheeler, Kody West, Giovannie and the Hired Guns, and Pecos & The Rooftops are some of the most familiar names in this sub-genre, but acts like Cross Canadian Ragweed and Whiskey Myers have long been laying the groundwork for the scene’s explosion that undoubtedly has spilled over to the mainstream in some ways.

But for as much as those previously mentioned are still out there rocking at their peak, there’s another group that’s somewhat new to the arena that’s poised for a major breakout.

Treaty Oak Revival.

The group formed in Odessa, Texas in 2019 and released two singles in 2020 which lead to their killer debut record No Vacancy in 2021. They followed that up with two 2022 singles, and are now working on their next project which I absolutely can’t wait for considering I’ve been playing No Vacancy on repeat since stumbling upon it a few months ago.

If you’ve never heard of these guys, you can check out our 5 song introductionbut I want to show you another example of why these guys just flat out rock.

Back in July, the band asked for new cover song suggestions for their live shows it looks like they took some of them and ran with it because just the other night, the boys brought out an all-time classic from the Turnpike Troubadours.

“7 & 7” has long been a fan favorite since being released on their 2010 Diamonds & Gasoline album, but it got some fire breathed into it when Treaty Oak got their hands on it.

Sadly, we’ve only got a 40 or so second clip from the show in St. Louis, but it’s enough to recognize their talent and note their respect for the legends of the Red Dirt scene. Whatever they’ve got cooking, I just know it’s going to be good, considering the influences they’re pulling from and the quality of music already released.

Fingers crossed we get some new music news out of them soon… I know I’ll be shouting from the rooftops whenever that moment does arrive.

Check out their latest release, “Stay Tuned.”

And my personal favorite of their, “Irish Goodbye.”
