Tim Tebow is without a doubt one of the most recognizable athletes since the turn of the century, and could go down as one of the greatest college football players ever.
He seemed like a lock to make it in the NFL coming out of college. When his time at the University of Florida came to an end in 2009, he left the Gators with two national championships and a Heisman trophy.
It’s hard to leave more of a lasting impression than that, and though NFL scouts were still wary about his abilities, he was drafted in the first round as the 25th overall pick to the Denver Broncos.
As you probably already know, his NFL career didn’t exactly pan out, even though it did provide this legendary moment in the playoffs for the Denver Broncos:

Even though his football playing career didn’t play out, his athleticism and drive to compete led him to give professional baseball a try too. Tebow definitely looked the part, and gave sports talk shows plenty of content during his time trying to break through in baseball, but that unfortunately didn’t work out either.
The household name was bouncing back and forth between announcing and analyst gigs while he was trying out minor league baseball, and though he showed some flashes of talent, it’s easier to find his baseball playing blooper reel than it is his highlight reel.
Like the time he faced a rehabilitating Max Scherzer:

Or when a ball hit to left field ricocheted off the wall and bounced right off his face:

Tebow even briefly returned to football in 2021 with the help of his former coach and NFL disaster Urban Meyer, who gave the former Florida QB a chance to play tight end on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad.
This is how that went (he’s number 85 by the way):

Naturally, Tim Tebow checked off football and baseball off the list, and is now turning to the most underrated sport there is: hockey.
The 35-year-old athlete (he’ll always be an athlete) may not be lacing up the skates, but he is throwing his hat into the group of celebrities and former athletes that own sports teams (see Ryan Reynolds, Alex Rodriguez).
It was recently announced that Tebow will be the co-owner of the an ECHL expansion team in Lake Tahoe. For those not familiar with the US Hockey Tiers, the NHL is the very top, then right below it is the AHL, then the ECHL.
So Tebow is not exactly entering in as an owner at the top of NHL game, but that’s par for the course. He’s always been a “chip on the shoulder” kind of guy, and was more than excited when he was announced as a co-owner, saying:
“I love that sports can bring people together from all over to enjoy camaraderie, competition, and community impact.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be part of a group bringing hockey to the Tahoe area for fans and families to create memories for years to come.”

So Tim Tebow is BACK in the sports world, but just not in the “miracle NFL return” kind of way that many fans were hoping for.
Also, never count out that he somehow plays for the Lake Tahoe ECHL team…
