Some Florida Men are insane… some are saviors.
Just recently, we’ve heard a few purely wild Florida Man stories, like slapping a woman with a pizza, sharing a pork loin sandwich with an alligator, and biting off a python’s head.
But we’ve also seen a few times where Florida Man has done something crazy for a good reason, like when this guy saved a drowning bear and this guy saving a deer from the grips of a python.
And now, we see Florida Man saving a pelican who found itself in a very strange situation.
The bird had tried to gobble down a decent sized fish but hadn’t noticed a large double sided hook in its mouth. Well, that hook latched into the pelican, causing it some serious pain and not allowing it to close its beak.
When some concerned onlookers, including a very cute sounding little girl, noticed the distressed bird, they got the attention of a man on a boat, who could have been Dad. He brought the boat over to the pelican, grabbed its beak, and started working at dislodging the hook.
It took a few minutes, but he was eventually able to free the fish and let the pelican go about its life in peace, much to the delight of the little girl.
Gotta love when kids get excited about wildlife. Good on the guy for doing this, although those birds can be quite gross, so I hope he thoroughly washed his hands afterwards.
