Pabst Brewing Launches New Craft Beer Brand Captain Pabst, Introduces Seabird IPA

PBR is getting into the craft beer business? I’m not mad at it.

Today, Pabst Brewing Company has announced the launch of a brand new line of premium craft beer. Under the Captain Pabst moniker, Pabst will be looking to give beer drinkers something more than their standard PBR, and first up will be their flagship Seabird IPA. According to a press release, Seabird IPA is a “highly sessionable, premium India Pale Ale, brewed with Magnum, Citra, Cascade, and Mosaic hops.”

“Were lucky enough to be the stewards of so many great, classic American trademarks.  But none of those marks really highlight the person or the people that founded the original brands,” said Matt Bruhn, Pabst General Manager. “We thought creating something new, based on someone who played such an integral part in pioneering brewing in this country, was a really romantic and deserving story that consumers would be interested in hearing.”

Pabst will also change up the taproom in Milwaukee and relaunch it as Captain Pabst’s Pilot House. The taproom offers a beer hall experience in the heart of Milwaukee, Pabsts hometown.

Damn, Pabst is making moves lately. In the last year or so, the hipster favorite has launched Stronger Seltzer, Hard Coffee, PBR Extra, PBR Whiskey and now a classy Captain Pabst Seabird IPA?

Like I said at the beginning… I’m not mad at it.
