Hardy Reminds Us That Sometimes, All You Need Is A Little Liquid Courage, On Rockin’ New Single “Jack”

Hardy country music

This song ROCKS.

Hardy released a brand new single today called “Jack,” which has quickly become a fan-favorite after he played it live some at shows throughout this past summer.

The song builds in much the same way as Hardy’s rock release track, “Sold Out,” with a calmer intro and more of a head-banger-style rock ending, but the content of the song is all country, featuring Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey as the main character.

An homage to a little liquid courage, the song’s verses remind the listener that they can do just about anything from asking out a girl in a crowded bar to becoming famous, as long as they stick with Jack.

Of course, Hardy is one of the best songwriters in all of Nashville, as is evidenced by his recent ACM Songwriter of the Year award, and he definitely had those clever and witty writing chops on full display here:

“All the people in your circle man they’re pissing me off
Say you’re broken and you’re soulless and it’s all my fault
So tell me old friend, is it such a sin
All I did was make you happy so to hell with them…”

I mean, country songs about Jack Daniels and whiskey are a dime a dozen in country music, but I ain’t never heard one like this… and I mean that in the best way possible.

And while the song might encourage some alcoholic shenanigans, Hardy wants fans to read between the lines:

“’JACK’ was originally written before ‘SOLD OUT,’ so it kind of got the ball rolling.

I love the story it tells — it’s got some deep undertones about alcohol and how it can have a strong grip on people and can really bring you down.

I hope people can kind of read through that lyric and understand it. It rocks, and I’m excited for the world to hear it.”

As much as I love Hardy’s more country songs, like his recent collab with Lainey Wilson on “Wait In The Truck,” and even some of his co-writes on his friend Morgan Wallen’s 2021 Dangerous double album like “Sand in My Boots,” the solo singles he’s been putting out lately are top tier, and some of his best work to date in my opinion.

Just drop the rock album already Hardy, please and thank you….
