Yet people still call her a one hit wonder…
As we near the end of the year, it’s becoming increasingly clear that 2026 will go down as the year of Ella Langley. Simply put, it’s hard to argue that she’s not just the hottest star in country music, but as music as a whole.
If you’ve been paying close attention within the genre over the years, it was more than apparent that the Alabama native was bound to be a star, catching early buzz with tracks like “Country Boy’s Dream Girl,” “paint the town blue” and “That’s Why We Fight” with Koe Wetzel. With that being said, however, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the world-dominating, record-smashing success she’s had recently.
Launching off the success of her Riley Green collaboration, “you look like you love me” throughout 2024 and 2025, as well as other hits such as “weren’t for the wind,” the Alabama native has become nothing short of a phenomenon thanks to the megahit that is “Choosin’ Texas,” And, in turn, she has captured the hearts of nearly everyone in the country and the world over the past year.
Since its release on October 17th, it is now the longest-running #1 hit by a female artist this century, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay charts simultaneously. In case that wasn’t enough, thanks to the success of her sophomore album, Dandelion, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and sold 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week, Langley became just the second woman in history to hold the #1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country song/album.
Last week, she made U.S. history by officially capturing the longest-running #1 hit in U.S. history with 23 weeks, passing Mariah Carey’s long-standing record of 22 atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
Simply put, Langley has been everywhere. Whether it’s selling out arenas across the country on her own Dandelion Tour and opening up for Morgan Wallen on his potentially record-breaking Still The Problem Tour or scoring collabs with major brands such as American Eagle, Shiner Bock beer, Noyz perfume and more.
And it’s not just “Choosin’ Texas” that’s become a breakout hit for Langley. Despite so many pop stans (and country haters in general), calling her a “one hit wonder,” an “industry plant” and pretty much any other term you can think of to disparage her history-making success, “Be Her” has been nothing short of a smash as well.
Though it hasn’t reached #1 since “Choosin’ Texas” blocked it on multiple occasions, “Be Her” has spent two weeks at #2 on the Hot 100, a staggering 21 weeks inside the Top 10 and 13 weeks inside the Top 5. Couple that with a #1 on country radio just 15 weeks after its release — the fastest solo female ascent in ten years — and a hefty 276 million streams on Spotify alone since its February 13th, it’s been a huge hit for Langley.
It’s been so successful, in fact, that today it was confirmed by Chart Data, one of X’s (formerly Twitter) leading sales and music chart trackers, that “Be Her” is the highest-selling song released in 2026 in the U.S. so far, ahead of #1 hits from all-genre stars such as Drake’s “Janice STFU,” Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “drop dead” and more.
In case that wasn’t enough, her internet-breaking collaboration with Morgan Wallen, “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” slots inside the Top 10 as well at #6, allowing Langley to tie with Luke Combs and Bruno Mars, who both have two songs on the list.
Expanding out to the entire Top 10, country music dominates and accounts for half of the best-selling songs.
Here, Langley is rivaled by Combs who owns two tracks off of The Way I Am, “Be By You” (#7) and “Sleepless In A Hotel Room,” (#10) as well as Stella Lefty’s controversial hit, “Boston” (#4).
