Well, this is gonna be awesome.

A George & Tammy miniseries is in the works, which will document the roller coaster relationship between country music legends, George Jones and his wife, Tammy Wynette.

Jessica Chastain is already a lock for Tammy Wynette, and we had heard that Michael Shannon was the number one prospect to play George Jones…

And now, it’s official.

According to Deadline, Michael Shannon is in the process of closing the deal to play George Jones in the six-episode miniseries, George & Tammy.

Production will get underway this week in North Carolina, and it’s reported by Deadline’s Michael Fleming Jr. that both Shannon and Chastain will do all of their own singing. Pulling off George Jones and Tammy Wynette? Not exactly the easiest acting gig of their career.

The show will be premiering exclusively on Spectrum, and will also be streamed on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network.

David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yari will be the executive producers for the show through 101 Studios, the same studio that produced Yellowstone.

Needless to say, this show has a star studded cast and crew, and judging by the tales I’ve heard about George and Tammy’s wild relationship, this oughta be a great one.
