Colt Brennan is one of the most electric quarterbacks to every play college football.
The former Hawaii quarterback set a number of college records back in the mid 2000’s, but yesterday, he unfortunately passed away at the age of 37.
According to ESPN, his father found him unconscious in his California rehabilitation facility, and passed away on Monday in a hospital in Newport, California. He was in his 5th month at the rehab facility.
His father, Terry Brennan had this to say about the tragedy:
“He was doing so well, the spark was back in his eyes, and he was healthy and doing great, and it happened.”
Colt’s family was by his side in the hospital as he passed away.
In every season from 2005-2007, we saw him pass for more than 4,000 yards, including a mind numbing 5,549 yards in 2006. He also set the single season touchdown pass record with 58 that season, a record broken by Joe Burrow in 2019. He finished sixth in Heisman voting in 2006 and third in 2007, and was later drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2008, a sixth-round pick.
Unfortunately, a car accident left him with a traumatic brain injury, virtually ending his career in football.
After the accident, he found his fair share of legal trouble and substance abuse issues, including multiple arrests for driving under the influence.
The cause of Brennan’s death has not yet been reported.
